“When I first thought about what place means or symbolizes to me, I envision experiences, memories, or feelings that I have towards what place is, whether it be home, work, or even the occasional transitional space. These places that we find fundamentally important to us begin to work more as a character and even become a participant in our daily lives. I believe that this sense of place has a profound effect on how we perceive ourselves, our outlook on life, and what and how we decide to create and document. I wanted to create a show that explores the full tonality and multifaceted experiences of what place can mean to all of us. It was intriguing and inspirational to see the number of artists, artwork, and mediums that were encapsulated in the interpretation of “in our place.” I would like to thank everyone who applied.”
